Every day the headlines in all of the media tell us that our young people are in trouble, and that the problems are getting worse. We all want to do something to help but direct action isn't an option for most of us.
This year's Halliwells Corporate Challenge in support of The Prince's Trust has been designed to enable everyone to contribute and to do something immediate and positive. Although the problems that must be addressed are serious, we want everyone to not just raise funds but to raise fun too. This is the second meaning of re-engaging with our youth - to connect with the fun we used to have, working together to meet a challenge. Our Corporate Challenge will help your individuals and teams to re-connect with that adventurous spirit of fun and exploration. The Challenge will also help all of the participant organisations by giving them ways in which to build their teams and their sense of worth.
Our Halliwells Values of Teamwork, Quality, Performance and entrepreneurialism are the essence of what the corporate challenge is all about.
There are more than one million young people in the UK not in education, employment or training. The Prince's Trust focuses its efforts on those young people who need their help most - Do you want to change a young person's life forever? You can by joining this challenge. The trust supported 37,900 young people last year, of those 73% moved into work, education or training.
Following on from the success of the Halliwells Corporate Challenge 2007, the 2008 Challenge will start in September and finish in November. Halliwells is donating an initial £7500 to 150 teams who will be volunteering to participate in a fundraising challenge - each team will be given £50 and have three months to grow it by as much as is legally and ethically possible. There will be expert support to help guide and motivate your teams, Halliwells will be involved from the beginning of the challenge right through to the Gala Dinner at the end of the challenge on November 27th 2008.
This is an ideal opportunity to build team spirit within your workplace, take part in a fun project, network with other organisations, and a chance to test your creativity and motivate yourself and your colleagues - all the time raising money for The Prince's Trust for the benefit of young people who need our help.
We think it is time for all of us to re-engage with our youth and work together to make a difference. It all starts here and it starts now, indeed if not us then Who? and if not now then When?
